Actually, there was no demand, I just got tired of looking at all the Cecis.

Last week I got LOADS of compliments on my hair. It's the blue... people like it. It has a soothing effect.

SOOOO last night I was thinking about this scene from family guy that I love.

Random, I know, but hey! It makes me giggle.

For the curious, here are pictures I stole from M and William that were taken at the 33rd annual Ceci celebration.

It was silly and fun and great to see the people that came to help me celebrate. If friends are happy to be silly with you, that's a good friend.

At M and Cedric's for Movie night Monday around their Buddah.

The movie night crew as me... I'm in there somewhere too.

Dinner at Montage on my birthday. William placed the mask in front of me.

It seemed that no matter what I tried to do everyone kept placing the mask in front of me... or trying to.

Can you spot the real Ceci??

Dinner was something like Being John Malkovich. That's William as Ceci. Fierce!

So I guess this year... the theme is "silly = good." I just have to remember that.

Thank you everyone for the great birthday! AAAAAANNNNDDDD the party continues with Mlle_Aubergine (and possibly Cedric??) on the 25th for Fischerspooner!

It is, as the great AFP would say, Jesus year. Yes, I'm now the same age as Jesus (the man not the dog) when he bit it. I'm also the same age as AFP and Matt in Hong Kong (Thank you Liad for introducing me to Matt! He's hilarious!) who also have birthdays right around mine.

I began my 33rd quite well, I must say!

If you were to ask me when I started celebrating, I would have to say it was yesterday around 5pm when Amander sent me a text saying that she got her MFA. You see, at Yale for costume design, you have to present your thesis and then they let you know then and there if they like it/it's acceptable/ you graduate. Luke also passed and that made me VERY happy indeed! I've got go find a dress with the puffiest of puffed sleeves now...

I really find that inspiring.

It makes me remember that I have to listen to my own words that I can do anything as long as I stick to it and just do. That's what I told Amander when she first applied to Yale and she got in. Just do... and keep on doing. Maybe I should tattoo it on my forehead.

So for me... that's a good thing to celebrate and the best birthday gift... because it's inspiration and it reminds me of what I believe and hold dear. That's what I needed right now.

Last night's movie night was a surprise party/movie night for me! I had NO idea! Everyone had Ceci masks which was sort of frightening yet hilarious. It was like Being John Malkovich... but with me. Heh. Mlle_Aubergine made the cake and Cedric made vesper martinis. Awesome. Thanks to M and Cedric for hosting and to Mlle_Aubergine for all the marvelous Ceci decorations and cake. Thanks also to everyone who went to help me celebrate and watch Rebecca. A small shout out to the marvelous JuggleJane for helping Mlle_A with the pictures.

Yes, I'm a little hung over.

Let's hope I don't do that again tonight.

...but I'm sharing some of the links I found on her blog.

The first one that struck me was this one:

The image is from Justin Blyth's photoblog which is just excellent.

Take a look:

Also, she had a game link

1) Why do people "lol"? They even say "lol." I can't even do it on chat or in comments or anything because I think of it as AOL speak(you know...the kids who could use chat before they knew how to use it well by trolling and basically being a nuisance). I mean it used to mean something but now people use it as a word not an abbreviation (as in "I just LOLed") OR they use it redundently ("I just laughed LOL") and worse than that, a combination of the 2 ("I just LOLed out loud!") What the frak people!?

2) Doris Day had 3 husbands by my age. I've only had two. Is this a catch up thing or does that mean I'm not doing too badly?? Only time will tell kids, only time will tell.

3) Ideas for stories:
- What children don't want you to know: The things that happen that your kids keep from you because you can't handle it OR Why Bobby never told you he was molested. (a little long me thinks and I don't know that the public can handle this...heh)
- What third graders think about sex - because if you think that kids have NO idea, you're terribly wrong!
- My first Bad Word - I've found that most of my friends and I first learned (and started using) shit or fuck around the ages of 5-7, and I don't mean just hearing the words...
- Wren: A Story - a story about a girl who lives in a world where people are Stories (spelled with a capital S as they have to differentiate between stories that are things and stories that are people)

*I was thinking back to the old good KROQ days (as opposed to the bad ones) in LA. They used to do what KISS (a top 40 radio station in LA) called the top 8 at 8, except it was the top 8 at 8 at 9, which was the top 5 songs requested that day at 9pm.

...AND... we're back!

So the door swings back the other way...

Today I'd like to wish Ms. Amander (yes, another one) a very happy happy birthday! I had a good 30 and I think you will too! You inspire me and I'm very proud of you for all the things that you've put your mind to and accomplished.

If only I could fly over for drinks. One day. I owe you many drinks.

Speaking of birthdays, I've resolved my issues with mine. Much thanks to JuggleJane for patiently talking it out and getting to the bottom of what I would love to do.

In a nut shell, dinner for my birthday at Montage ('cause I'd love some mussel shooters and mac n' cheese!) and Fischerspooner on the 25th (because music makes me all sorts of happy)!

That's right!

Fischerspooner released their new album on the 5th of May... sooo about a year from this post where I heard Danse en France, they FINALLY released Entertainment.

Now THAT sounds like a way to celebrate.

Huh...

You know, last week the boyo made a comment about Twitter, blogs and narcissism. Since then I keep wondering... why do I bother? I mean, it's all nonsense anyway. These days... I just don't know. I'm apparently narcissistic and this is all drivel.

The 33rd annual Ceci celebration is in a week. I'm not sure what I want to do for it. I wanted to do one thing but I can't because others booked that day before I shouted "Dibs!" out loud. So now I have to find something else to do for my birthday on any day other than the 23rd. This leaves me with the upcoming weekend or Sunday the 24th, as Memorial Day is the 25th.

...

Really, no clue.

Also, people book up pretty fast so even if I did decide to throw a shindig for myself this weekend, it's possible that no one will be able to attend.

Oddly, unlike most years, this is the one year when I'm not counting down to my birthday. I can blame a lot of things, but when all is said and done, I'm just not feeling it. Dinner at Montage? People over for drinks? It all sounds like nights out we can't afford to do. I should just chalk Europe up as a celebration and call it good.

Anyone with ideas?

The new IAMX comes out on my birthday. I'd like that and to win the lottery please.
Amen.

...
I guess the door swung the wrong way today.

Brandy started it...

I used to have this song on a CD that the boyo made me.

Alas, I do not know what happened to that CD and I MISS THIS SONG!

However, I end up singing it from time to time and you can bet your sweet bippy that it annoys the HELL out of the boyo.

Today... today Brandy had something up on her facebook (there are those that pronounce it fa-chaybook) that reminded me to look for the song.

Guess what?!
I FOUND IT!

Ok well technically JuggleJane sent me this one BEFORE I sent her one... but in the spirit of the last post, I present you cards sent to me on this mother's day.

From JuggleJane

From Mlle_aubergine

To all my childfree friends I send you this:

~Disclaimer to my friends with kids... Come on! It's funny! Also, technically this is also true of people in long relationships ::clears throat:: So really this is more for the single girls*...

The lovely (and newly engaged!) Chloé sent me this article which, we agree, is the best written explanation as to why we were (are...what?!) so enthralled with the Twilight series.

You might remember also that the same Chloé (it's 'cause she's super cool... and has a great sense of humor... and she's super smart but doesn't take herself seriously... ) sent me what led to this post. Well, there's apparently a rebuttal:

Perhaps I should have named this post "The I heart Chloé post"

*and JuggleJane, who is in her own truly awesome catagory

Ceci a year ago in Amsterdam adding Eddie the travel monkey to the Nightwatch.

So much changes in year... crazy.

For an update: psychiatrist visited (and still going), the diagnosis sticks and now I'm trying on the meds.

That is all.

So I'm sitting here feeling like I need to write something. It's been ages since I've written anything for anyone or even to anyone. I have a hard time communicating right now, I guess. I really don't know why or what to do about it but I cannot bring myself to comment on my usual haunts in blogland. Nor Twitter... Facebook... myspace... Not here, nor on ourpdx... I just feel like I have nothing to say about anything. My mind is a complete blank on things other than what I'm taking in, finding out and learning from.

However, I have this urge to write.

It's what I do, after all.

It's odd how when one is content after a long while of feeling out of sorts, one wonders why that feeling is forgotten. Johanna suggested I write myself a letter but I think I'll just place it here.

There are those days when it's enough to have someone you love, a cozy little place to call "home" and food in the cupboards. The laundry is put away, you're not having a breakdown, you've run 3 miles and all you have to do now is read your book or catch up on Dollhouse. Those days, when nothing is happening and your mind is quiet, those are the days to remember when everything seems far from ok.

The year's at the spring,
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearl'd;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His heaven--
All's right with the world!
-Robert Browning

So I will try.

I got the cello finally. Saturday night the boyo helped me tune it. Then I sat down and tried to get to know it. I hope it likes me...

Yesterday was Amanda Fucking Palmer's birthday. She's a Taurus JUST LIKE ME and she turned 33 JUST LIKE I WILL in 19 days... 18 days??? Does one count today as one or count from days to?
Whatever.

She likes to refer to this as Jesus year. I'm gonna have to go with her on this one.

Anyway, when asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said:

here is what i’d like for my birthday:

please take this moment in time and think about one person, any person, who you think might like my music and my art. someone who doesn’t know it.
someone who does not have amanda fucking palmer in their life and might like her there.
this does not have to be a peer. it could be a child, a mother, an ex, an uncle, an befriended enemy, a co-worker, a long-lost friend, a teacher, a whatever. ANYONE.

picture them in your mind. picture if their life might possibly be made better if you brought some afp into it.

NOW:
please send/get to them them either of the following (in any format your lifestyle or computer literacy allows for. and explain why you are sending this. explain why you like this artist. explain that it’s her birthday and she’s asked you, as a favor to her, to do this.
the worst they will do is delete your email, tell you to fuck off, or disown you)

either
1-a copy of WHO KILLED AMANDA PALMER. if you don’t think they have the attention span for the whole album, send them a track.
or
2-a youtube clip of one of your favorite AFP videos.

So, kids, I give you "Oasis"

You can thank me later...
