I finished last night with a word count of 50, 080 according to the site once I uploaded my file. I'm a little impressed with myself as I'm usually a little distracted, but I stuck with what I said I was going to do.
:)
It shows me that I should stick to a schedule because it will allow me time to write, even if it's just for practice.
So, what did I win?
I won:
- a few good stories - mostly complete except for editing
- some great ideas to explore
- more proof that I can do anything once I put my mind to it
- a new schedule for my writing

I'm proud of you Ceci. I did not write a novel this month- but I did finish 18 pages of technical writing for work, and 10 pages of article critiques.
I was tempted to cheat a write a novel which went something like this:
Ethel went to work that day full of hope. She was disappointed when her boss said, "I need you to write up some procedures for that new database system we're using." Ethel worked and worked, and this is what she wrote:
"Parking Permit Reconciliation Desk Procedure
[insert 18 pages of technical writing]"
When Ethel got home, she was proud of her accomplishment but so very tired. Worse yet, she realized she had to finish critiquing an article on experimental design. She made herself a pot of French press coffee and got to work. This is what she wrote:
[insert article critique]
etc.

Gripping stuff, I know ;) If David Foster Wallace's posthumous, unfinished enormous novel about the IRS (The Pale King) can make the New York Times best-seller list, I think there is hope for me yet. And Ethel... I like that name. Look for more from Ethel. I think I am going to use her.
Seriously, though- great job, Ceci! I miss you.
