Comics Break

I'm inspired almost every day by things that friends are doing. It seems I know a lot of people that are starting to do more of their creative thing or push for the next level of what they're doing creatively. They're putting themselves and their art out there, and that's very impressive because it takes courage, belief, and determination.

However, it also takes money. I try to support them as much as I can when and where possible because I believe in them. I know belief helps, but I know that sometimes money (when possible) helps more.

So my friend, Gren has a chance to be in this really neat Kickstarter project for an anthology of comic book stories inspired by Nine Inch Nails songs. I'm of fan of comic books and I'm a fan of Nine Inch Nails, so I'm completely on board. In order for Gren's story to get into the anthology, however, the project - which is currently funded to print the first few stories - needs to hit the $35,000 milestone before the group of stories that his is part of can be added.

I'd like to ask that you, dear reader, please help by contributing whatever possible and by spreading the word and link to the Kickstarter for this project (found here).

So... pretty please, with sugar on top.

Gren's plea and video on the benchmarks to be reached.

ART!

I've taken a step back to look at things. Sometimes, they say, we need to do that... sometimes I feel more productive that way. I'm focusing on things that help me more, like the food that my body really craves, or more amount of movement. The last 3 nights I've either attempted to write or have written in some way shape or form. Maybe it's not very much, but it's something - it's a beginning.

I'm learning to like the quiet, the voice in it that speaks to me. Actually, I do like the quiet; that's really weird for me.

It's spring and something's changing... or everything's changing.

I'm not quite sure yet.

I'm trying new things and trying good things. I hope it pans out.

Also, art!

I'm finding inspiration through art. Mostly that which people just like me make and some from the things I've talked to Tracy about.  Of course, there is also inspiration from professional pieces - photos, paintings, drawings, writing. I could get lost in it, save for the fact that it makes me lose focus and spins me out of me, making what I want to do seem elusive and otherworldly. Get me? The more I look at professional art, things by people who make money doing just that, the more it seems like it's something they do, something that I can't because, well... it's not part of my world. The thing I have to remember is that, well, it is part of my world! I can put it there.

I like art. It makes life beautiful and more fulfilling, I think. I need more of it in my world. So I figured, hell! I'll just make it 'cause... I can.

Truth and Beauty

... is what I need today.

I keep remembering a line from Beowulf
"Alone in a world blown clear of love
hung with icicles... "

I apparently do it to myself.

Last night I stubbornly fought with Stephen about something that I can see through my sober head today I was wrong about. I fought to win. It was stupid and pointless and really did nothing save hurt him.

Now he's hurt and it was pointless and somehow this all bleeds into our trip to Chicago in a couple of weeks.

I've always had a thing for Shiva, and I'm apparently quite good at destroying something in a few minutes with far-reaching effects.

Also, today I feel like an idiot at work because my mind is having issues grasping simple things, today my mind is a sieve.

So... I'm trying to cure this with pictures. I took a time out from work to look at places that I gather pictures that make me smile and inspire me.

That's my attempt at being positive... at least visually.
