It is, as the great AFP would say, Jesus year. Yes, I'm now the same age as Jesus (the man not the dog) when he bit it. I'm also the same age as AFP and Matt in Hong Kong (Thank you Liad for introducing me to Matt! He's hilarious!) who also have birthdays right around mine.

I began my 33rd quite well, I must say!

If you were to ask me when I started celebrating, I would have to say it was yesterday around 5pm when Amander sent me a text saying that she got her MFA. You see, at Yale for costume design, you have to present your thesis and then they let you know then and there if they like it/it's acceptable/ you graduate. Luke also passed and that made me VERY happy indeed! I've got go find a dress with the puffiest of puffed sleeves now...

I really find that inspiring.

It makes me remember that I have to listen to my own words that I can do anything as long as I stick to it and just do. That's what I told Amander when she first applied to Yale and she got in. Just do... and keep on doing. Maybe I should tattoo it on my forehead.

So for me... that's a good thing to celebrate and the best birthday gift... because it's inspiration and it reminds me of what I believe and hold dear. That's what I needed right now.

Last night's movie night was a surprise party/movie night for me! I had NO idea! Everyone had Ceci masks which was sort of frightening yet hilarious. It was like Being John Malkovich... but with me. Heh. Mlle_Aubergine made the cake and Cedric made vesper martinis. Awesome. Thanks to M and Cedric for hosting and to Mlle_Aubergine for all the marvelous Ceci decorations and cake. Thanks also to everyone who went to help me celebrate and watch Rebecca. A small shout out to the marvelous JuggleJane for helping Mlle_A with the pictures.

Yes, I'm a little hung over.

Let's hope I don't do that again tonight.

...AND... we're back!

So the door swings back the other way...

Today I'd like to wish Ms. Amander (yes, another one) a very happy happy birthday! I had a good 30 and I think you will too! You inspire me and I'm very proud of you for all the things that you've put your mind to and accomplished.

If only I could fly over for drinks. One day. I owe you many drinks.

Speaking of birthdays, I've resolved my issues with mine. Much thanks to JuggleJane for patiently talking it out and getting to the bottom of what I would love to do.

In a nut shell, dinner for my birthday at Montage ('cause I'd love some mussel shooters and mac n' cheese!) and Fischerspooner on the 25th (because music makes me all sorts of happy)!

That's right!

Fischerspooner released their new album on the 5th of May... sooo about a year from this post where I heard Danse en France, they FINALLY released Entertainment.

Now THAT sounds like a way to celebrate.

Ok well technically JuggleJane sent me this one BEFORE I sent her one... but in the spirit of the last post, I present you cards sent to me on this mother's day.

From JuggleJane

From Mlle_aubergine

To all my childfree friends I send you this:

~Disclaimer to my friends with kids... Come on! It's funny! Also, technically this is also true of people in long relationships ::clears throat:: So really this is more for the single girls*...

The lovely (and newly engaged!) Chloé sent me this article which, we agree, is the best written explanation as to why we were (are...what?!) so enthralled with the Twilight series.

You might remember also that the same Chloé (it's 'cause she's super cool... and has a great sense of humor... and she's super smart but doesn't take herself seriously... ) sent me what led to this post. Well, there's apparently a rebuttal:

Perhaps I should have named this post "The I heart Chloé post"

*and JuggleJane, who is in her own truly awesome catagory

Ok so I'm not 100%...

This is the Ceci we all know and love (pictures thanks to JuggleJane):

*This is Ceci trying not to waste any sake whilst at sushi on our last night in London

I'm not posting much as I'm trying not to whine.

How shall I put this??

I'm trying to post when on an up swing, not so much so that everyone thinks I'm fine, but ... well it's hard to discuss. First of all, when I'm down it's almost like I'm blocked; I don't know what to say about it or how to convey the feelings properly. I figured, rather than just whine about it and grope around trying to figure out how to say what I'm trying to say, I just won't. Seems easier... and less whiny.

I know there are people that have bigger problems than mine, and I really just feel weak when I see my rants because they sound so foolish, sound so much less intense than I feel them.

Then again, maybe that's the problem. Maybe I'm feeling them a lot more strongly than they are, get me?

For anyone who's curious, you can find info on bipolar disorder here. When you look at the symptoms and wonder which ones I have/ have had/ make me question who I am, just know that I can give you a few very good examples of all of them.

So for now, just know that I'm being sent to a psychiatrist for further evaluation and to most likely try on some new meds. If you want to know what's going on on a day-to-day basis... well, you can always call or email me.

I'll post on here whenever I have something to share. However, here's a warning: it might not be a lot... and it might not be very often. Things change on a daily basis here at Chez Ceci; I have a hard time keeping up with myself!

Museum day

Our last day in Paris was museum day. I won't discuss the tragedy that made it possible (someone out there has pictures!), but we went to the Musée de l'Orangerie to see Monet paintings instead. The whole time I had a certain song running through my head (open it in a different tab or window to listen as you peruse my pictures).

Next we play "Can you find David in the picture?"

There he is!

Juggle Jane peruses some paintings.

Inspired by my latest trip (and JuggleJane) I've a list of things I want in 2009:

In no necessary order:
- Publish something (because I'm forever writing/ editing but RARELY submitting)
- Get back to my fighting weight (seriously folks, PDX has had me gain weight and I'm not sure WHY! It might be a combo of the weather and that I'm not on my feet 10 hours a day)
- Stop the bipolar cycle or at least face the current swing of the door... it's not pretty.
- Go to Scotland for Asef's wedding. (because the car needs serious work and things are taking their toll)
- Have a little more TIME with the boyo (if you know what I'm saying)
- be a better friend (because there's always something to learn in this dept.)
- Keep learning... anything and everything! French, brushing up on my spanish, maybe take up the cello... bother the geniuses at the Genius bar a little more... you know... stuff
- Start a new project/ get one started on here at least

That's all I got for now. Thanks to my friends for the inspiration.

Our last night! Starring:

Liad!

Me!

and introducing, Mlle_Aubergine's hand! (That's her feeding me more drinks... no wonder I was still drunk on the plane!)

The end of the night was something like this:

I was later told that I attempted to go home even though London pointed out that I didn't know where I was going (he's got a new place), to which I replied, "I know that!"

I had to be pushed out of the cab where I had fallen FAST asleep.

Is it any wonder that the three of us want to go back NOW?!
I think NOT!

I need a vacation! This is what my latest mood has me thinking. SERIOUSLY!

...and look at that! I'll be on vacation in exactly ONE WEEK! That works out well now, doesn't it?

I'm lucky, I know. Seriously lucky and the recent depression bout was sort of uncalled for seeing as I have it pretty damn good. What can I do??? I'm crazy; I blame genetics.

So! I've not written about it on here because it feels like gloating. However...however!... I think I need to talk about this.

So in a week's time I'm off to Europe. We're touching down in London and picking up one of my best friends, London, and taking the train over to Paris. Before we depart we will be having some champagne at the Champagne Bar at St. Pancrass to celebrate that we can.
That's right, London, Mlle_Aubergine, JuggleJane and I will be heading over to Paris, in part to celebrate Mlle's birthday and also to visit the brilliant Maile! Mlle_Aubergine's birthday will be celebrated in HIGH fashion on the Eiffel Tower at the Jules Verne because 40 is fabulous! ... and that's how we roll. Maile graduates this year from University so we're also celebrating her triumphs... and OH YEAH she got engaged! So there's that too. London graduates this year from St. Martin's (he's getting his masters), so he's another reason we're celebrating. I like to think that Jane and I are celebrating life... and going our own ways... and the awesome people in our lives. That's a lot of celebrating!

After Paris, Mlle_Aubergine, Juggle Jane and I are heading off to Prague. This was one of the requests Mlle made as to places she wanted to go to for her birthday. From Prague we're moving on back to London for 3 days and loafing around there with London again (everyone needs a London in London), where I better get a chance to visit my favorite wine bar, Gordon's! It looks unassuming from the outside

yet looks like this inside (which is technically downstairs... and apparently in technicolor in comparison to that dreary black and white of outside!)

Seriously!

I'm one lucky girl! I should be slapped for complaining! I should be slapped for gloating! I dunno... I feel pretty damn special and it always irks me when I forget the good friends I do have! I have nothing to complain about, not even that the boyo isn't going (I do wish he could go), and yet there I was complaining.

Oh the places I go! The friends I have!

I don't want to be anyone but me... not ever!

I often wish that my posts could be as funny as my chats with Jane. We're silly on our chats and pretty darn funny! If you read our chats you would think, "Now that's some funny shit! I wish I could be friends with them!"

You can't read our chats, though, because, aside from being damn funny, they're also full of LOTS of secret information about the world, the universe and everything. Things you can't know... things that men dressed in black wearing sunglasses would whisk you away into their black sedans never to be seen again FOREVER!... for.

Where was I ??

Only the boyo gets access to some of the funniest shit said on our chats... and only some!

Anyway, my talks with Jane are very important and today they have been doubly so because my head is so full of fluff and snot... that I really can barely do anything else. As someone at lunch pointed out today (Paige? I think,)it's the kind of sick where one feels guilty staying home because the cold is not that bad, but at work it's VERY annoying. That's me. I'm annoying... I mean, the cold's annoying.

She's currently keeping me from just staring at the stuff I'm updating for our website. Instead, I change a little something and then run back to our chat... then make another change... and run to the chat... and make a change... and... well, you get the picture.

My throat currently feels like I've licked the entire road from LA to Vegas, missed Vegas, ended up in SLC and had to lick my way back. NO WATER! It also sort of pinches at the very back, and longs for water... which, when given, it makes my sphincter pucker from the pain. That's right! I can feel my sore throat in my ass! This bites, yo!

It is important that Jane entertain me to keep me working(of sorts) because if I'm too sick to work, then I'm too sick to go out and there's no WHEY that I'm missing out on tonight.

With that being said, I will be at Ignite Portland 5 tonight, probably feeling a little shitty, but with the help of my friend, Wine-ona, I'll be DANDY!

What's Ignite, you ask? It's only the BEST, MOST FUN and ENTERTAINING evening of your life (right after Backfence, of course!) People give presentations on all sorts of things. All kinds of people. Rabbis, students, famous people... You know, like the infamous(so famous she's IN famous) Melissa Lion. See? I know people... or at least I follow them around for their events.

It ends up being a fun and drunk time with all sorts of information being presented to you in 5 minute(that's 20 slides, so 15 seconds per slide) intervals. It's just... I don't know how else to explain it. Head + Cold = Duh!, remember?

Go here to find out more:

Ok, ok... nothing more to see here. Shoo!
Go find your own Ignite!
